EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Civil Technology, OR equivalent work experience.
· 1 – 5 years of manufacturing experience and/or construction management experience is preferred but not required. Working in a metal manufacturing environment is a plus.
· Proficiency with fully integrated computer systems, with relevant experience in Bill of Material (BOM) Development, Materials Requirement Planning, working knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software, FEA (Nastran and Cosmos), reading and interpreting Architectural Drawings, and mastery of traditional Engineering functions.
· Knowledge of FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), Root Cause Analysis and Pareto Charts.
· Strong Computer knowledge including MS Office products.

· Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to sheet metal fabrication, die castings and extrusions.
SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
· Assists in the initiation, execution, and completion of key custom systems projects through the entire project lifecycle.
· Provides Engineering support for Project Teams as each works to meet the variety of needs of both the External and the Internal Customers.
· Attends project kick-offs, design reviews, and manufacturing release meetings as requested.
· Works with contract consulting engineering resources to ensure engineering calculations are delivered meeting project specification requirements.
· Insures Architectural Product Specifications are met (i.e. ASTM’s, UL, FM, etc.).
· Assists in developing costs for new components and development of cost/price relationships for outside Vendor Services vs. In-house manufacturing of components and sub-assemblies.
· Assists in the gathering of information required for Project Bids and Quotations.
· Strong working knowledge of sheet metal layouts for CNC Turret Punch Equipment and Brake Forming.
· Serves as the Team Technical Resource for both Product and Manufacturing Capabilities.
· Creates New Part Numbers and Standard Bills of Materials.
· Allocates materials required for Customer Sales Orders for assigned Projects and other Product Sales Orders.
· Performs quality drawing checks for customer shop drawings and internal fabrication drawings for assigned Projects ensuring that design intent is met and aligns with manufacturing capabilities, as needed.
OTHER FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
· Responds to Customer Needs for Specifications, Drawing/Product Details, and Calculations.
· Assists Teams with Project Take-offs.
· Works with outside Test Facilities to develop and perform tests required by 3rd Party Test Agencies.
· Responsible for Product Testing (i.e. curving, deflection, specification requirements, etc.).
· Develops and writes Product Specifications and Installation Instructions.
· Provides Purchasing Team with Vendor Specifications.
· Approves new Die Drawings, as requested.
· Responsible for First Article Inspections of new parts.
· Works with Production Team Leaders to resolve problems/issues on the production floor.
· Assists Sales Managers with Product Presentations.
· Field Site visits to assist Customers with installation of Gordon Systems and Products, as required.
· Maintains Charts, Graphs, Spreadsheets, Data Bases, and other informational documentation related to the Continual Improvement of process procedures as well as Team and Departmental Goals that are monitored for Continual Improvement.
· Monitors, Tracks, and Charts critical steps and procedures.
· Monitors both Individual and Team Goals and looks for opportunities for Personal and Professional Improvement.
· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
